idade (OR=2,76; IC95% 1,48 - 5,16), estar nos últimos semestres do curso (OR=1,93;
IC95% 1,06 - 3,51), ter utilizado aparelho ortodôntico (OR=1,83; IC95% 0,98 - 3,42),
escovar os dentes após café da manhã (OR=2,45; IC95% 1,28 - 4,70;) e ter realizado
clareamento dental (OR=0,33; IC95% 0,18 - 0,61) influenciam o desenvolvimento das
LNC; na face lingual fazer atividade física (OR=3,04; IC95% 1,32 – 7,05) e ser portador
de Doença do Refluxo Gastroesofágico (DRGE) (OR=3,76; IC95% 1,65 – 8,54)
| pt_BR |
dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Non-Carious Lesions (NCD), defined as a slow and progressive loss of
dental structure from the external surface without bacterial involvement, are changes that
may be related to biological, socioeconomic and cultural factors affecting the population.
Identifying its source is important for its prevention and progression control. The purpose
of this study was to identify the occurrence of CND and its possible associated factors in
students of the Dental School of the Federal University of Bahia (FOUFBA). Method: A
cross-sectional study was carried out with FOUFBA students who underwent oral
examination and answered a questionnaire with socio-demographic data, life and food
habits, scholar data, family and personal health aspects, dental care and oral hygiene.
Data collection took place in the second half of 2016. Bivariate and multivariate analyzes
were performed with three main outcomes separately: lesions on the occlusal/incisal
surface, on the buccal surface and on the lingual surface. Results: A total of 248 students
of both sexes joined this study, with a mean age of 23.6 years. Eighty-five point eightyeight
percent of the group had NCD, with 83.87% in the occlusal/incisal face, 60.25%
occurring in the vestibular and 13.31% in the palatine/lingual surface. The first molars,
followed by the first premolars were the most affected posterior teeth. Among the anterior
teeth, the superior canines were the most affected. The final result of the multivariate
regression revealed for the lesions in the vestibular face that factors like age (OR = 2.76,
95% CI 1.48 - 5.16), being in the last semesters of the course program (OR = 1.93, 95%
CI, (OR = 1.83, 95% CI 0.98 - 3.42), brushing the teeth after breakfast (OR = 2.45, 95%
CI 1.28-4 , 70;) and having performed tooth whitening (OR = 0.33; 95% CI: 0.18-0.61)
influence the development of NCD; (OR = 3.04, 95% CI 1.32 - 7.05) and GERD (OR =
3.76, 95% CI: 1.65 - 8.54) were associated with the NCD. In spite of that, regarding the
occlusal/incisal surface none of the factors studied showed a significant association with
the NCD. Conclusion: It was observed that the occurrence of NCD was high in this
population and that its etiology is multifactorial, involving biological aspects, eating habits,
oral hygiene, life habits health aspects. | pt_BR |
