Por uma utopia realizável: o feminismo engajado e o socialismo utópico nas obras de Flora Tristan no século XIX

Abstract

Esse trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o discurso feminista e socialista nas obras da autora francesa Flora Tristan (1803-1844), considerada uma das precursoras do feminismo e do socialismo utópico. Para a pesquisa, foram analisadas três obras da autora, dois relatos de viagem peregrinações de uma Pária (1835), Passeios em Londres (1840) e um livro político União Obreira (1843). Parto da hipótese de que Flora Tristan concebeu um texto original ao unir duas concepções políticas e dois movimentos em voga no século XIX. A autora criou assim assimilações singulares com a junção da perspectiva feminista e da crítica e os ideais socialistas. A leitura dessas fontes é direcionada, portanto, a compreender a construção do discurso político da autora. Para além disso, Flora Tristan narrou sobre as sociedades (peruana e inglesa) e sobre os contextos político e sociais vivenciados por ela nesses locais (pós-independência do Peru e efervescência econômica da Inglaterra). A autora também apresentou o contexto social das mulheres na sociedade oitocentista, principalmente da mulher separada, traduzindo sua experiência pessoal em uma metáfora social, as mulheres como Párias da sociedade. Muitas outras identidades femininas são possíveis enxergar através dos escritos de Flora Tristan, a estrangeira, a mãe, a autora, a viajante etc, assim, como suas observações acerca da classe operária em suas condições e suas reinvindicações. Essa pesquisa tem como norte teórico os estudos feministas e as discussões de gênero. O trabalho insere-se na linha de pesquisa da História Social, História das Mulheres e História Contemporânea.

This work aims to analyze the feminist and socialist discourse in the works of the French author Flora Tristan (1803-1844). The author is considered one of the forerunners of feminism and a utopian socialist. For the research were analyzed three works of the author, two travel reports Peregrinations of a Pariah (1835), Tours in London (1840) and a political book Workers Union (1843). I start from the central hypothesis that Flora Tristan conceived an original text by uniting two political conceptions and two movements in vogue in the nineteenth century. The author has thus created singular assimilations with the junction of feminist and critical perspective and socialist ideals. The reading of these sources is directed, therefore, to understand the construction of the author's political discourse. In addition to this, Flora Tristan narrated in her important travels reports on Peru and English societies, and on the political and social contexts she lived in these places (post-independence of Peru and economic effervescence of England). The author also presented through her narratives the social context of women in the nineteenth-century society, especially the separated woman, translating her personal experience into a social metaphor, women as society pariahs. Many other feminine identities are possible to see through the writings of Flora Tristan, the foreigner, the mother, the author, the traveler. Thus, how his observations about the class would operate on its conditions and its claims. This research has as theoretical the theoretical feminist studies and the discussions of gender. The work is part of the research line of Social History, Women's History and Contemporary History.
