Artes nas series iniciais: a necessidade do professor qualificado

Abstract

This monograph "Teaching arts in the early grades: the need of qualified teacher" is the result of a research project that has as its main objective to discuss the limits of teaching arts in the initial grades caused by the absence of the Arts teacher at school to perform this function. Methodologically, the search was characterized as documentary and bibliographic qualitative.The subject of investigation was the absence of the art educator in the initial grades, that was analyzed from a socio-historical materiality, guided by the following research question: Being the arts education essential for the training of students in the early grades, which limits can result from the lack of qualified teachers to work with the arts at this stage of schooling? To answer that question as well as theoretical studies, I performed field research in documents of the secretary of education, in Salvador. The data was analyzed and systematized in a principled way composing the monographic record that consisted of introduction, three chapters and final remarks. All chapters have been fundamental to understand the investigated object. We believe that still today, it is clear that the neglect of Arts Education discipline is handled by students and teachers from other areas, this lack of knowledge of the need of art education is enhanced by the lack of public policies that actually, recognize the place of teaching art in basic education. Thus, with this study, I tried to discuss the need of the art educator in elementary school from the early grades as a way to fill the epistemological gaps in the arts area. Therefore, I conclude this research with the feeling that it takes hard work, a lot of struggle, if we, educators and art educators, want to advance the construction of a truly comprehensive education of quality.
