A finalidade da educação considerações a partir de Hannah Arendt

Abstract

In the present work, the question of the purpose of education is analyzed from the perspective of by Hannah Arendt. For the author, education is the process responsible for intermediating the relationship between the human being still in formation and the already existing world. According to her, the education has its crisis triggered by the impacts of the emergence and growth of the social, and it is part of a general crisis of the modern world. In modernity, the distinction between private and public space is lost. These spaces are absorbed by the social. This directly affects the purpose of the act of educating which, within the logic of society, it becomes, predominantly, an instrument and no longer a process. Arendt criticizes this instrumentalization at the service of economic logic and relates to it the crisis of tradition and authority in education. Even so, the author affirms that the human being still has capabilities that were not eliminated by the crisis and, despite not pointing to a solution, in leads in the direction that we cannot give up the relationship between the human being and the world. Therefore, we cannot give up education.
