Anoma, de Punyakante Wijenaike: Uma análise da violência retratada no conto.

Abstract

The different types of violence that permeate the short story Anoma by Punyakante Wijenaike allow to understand gender violence, by portraying women victims of a system that reproduces male chauvinist behaviors and which in this context culminated in the social isolation experienced by the character who has no one to turn to. As her mother goes away to another city in search of money, the girl leaves school, takes on responsabilities that were not hers until then, like taking care of her father, her elevenyear-old brother and their home, thus showing the instability suffered by women who need to leave their families to earn financial support. The consequences caused by this absence demonstrate how the fiction implicit in the short story makes explicit the sociocultural problems experienced by the character. The teenager starts to suffer physical and psychological violence, because she is sexually abused by her father and starts to feel guilty. She does not understand the changes in her body and why she is going through this situation. In this way, confused and ashamed, she lives the conflict over abortion. The aim of this work is to give visibility to the content conveyed in this literary work, trying to dissolve taboos, encourage people who go through these situations and open up the perception of those who live around, in addition to the understanding and knowledge of cases of violence experienced in other languages and cultures.
