dc.description.resumoIntrodução: A dinapenia é a perda de força muscular associada ao envelhecimento, esse agravo está associado a desfechos negativos para a saúde do idoso. A ingestão proteica adequada e o treinamento físico resistido são os principais fatores relacionados a força muscular do idoso, podendo minimizar alterações musculoesqueléticas associadas ao envelhecimento. Objetivo: Avaliar os efeitos de uma intervenção com suplementação proteica e treinamento físico resistido na força muscular em mulheres idosas institucionalizadas. Metodologia: Trata-se de um ensaio clínico randomiza triplo cego, unicêntrico, placebo controlado, realizado em idosas residentes de uma instituição de longa permanência para idosos. As 37 participantes foram distribuídas em três grupos: EW (treinamento resistido + 25g de whey protein 25g); EP (treinamento resistido + placebo); e WP (25g de whey protein). O protocolo de treinamento foi realizado 3 vezes por semana. A intervenção multimodal teve duração de 12 semanas. A força muscular foi avaliada por força de preensão palmar (FPP) no baseline e após o período de intervenção. Resultados: A FPP no grupo EW e EP apresentaram aumento de média de (16,00 kg ± 4,78) para (20,16 kg ± 3,45) p=0,003; e (de 17,16 kg ± 5,18) para (para 21,83 kg ± 5,07), respectivamente. Não houve aumento de FPP para o grupo WP (p = 0,085). Conclusão: Este estudo mostrou que em mulheres idosas, o treinamento resistido associado ou não com suplementação de whey protein, promoveu aumento da FPP.pt_BR
