“Eu sou metamorfósica”: aprendizagens de Helisleide Bomfim nos movimentos sociais de luta antimanicomial

Abstract

This study intended to understand the learnings built by the activist Helisleide Bomfim, in the involvement in the social movements of anti-asylum struggle in Salvador - BA and their consequent resonances, in order to understand these movements as spaces of non-school education. And the main points consist of describing the experiences circumscribed in the anti-asylum movement that provided learning in this new vital space for activist Helisleide Bomfim and listing the central elements that manifest themselves as resonant phenomena caused by the existential context of the movement for the anti-asylum struggle. Seeking to access the phenomenon addressed, in this study, we carried out a phenomenological, qualitative, exploratory investigation, based on a life history approach using interviews. When we interpret the data produced, based on the references with which we dialogue, two learning flows are shown, both socially configured, but with different societal functions: learning flows in the realm of the life-world-lived and learning flows in the political sphere. Finally, the interpretation brought the understanding that the most complex and, at the same time, most important learning mediated by the social movements of anti-asylum struggle was to be able to be authentically who she is.
