Nenhuma a menos: ampliando a história da arquitetura moderna em Salvador (1936-1969)

Abstract

A História é considerada por muitos autores desigual quando se trata da inclusão da história das mulheres. Durante séculos a mulher foi privada da participação pública e de atuar como um agente protagonizante, sendo historicamente invisibilizada. Essa mesma condição, reflete em todas as áreas de conhecimento, incluindo arquitetura e urbanismo. Diante disso, este trabalho busca através da confluência entre um aprofundamento referencial, a análise documental de arquivos da Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade Federal da Bahia e, entrevistas com arquitetas formadas em Salvador, analisar contextos, práticas e discursos historiográficos, da formação à atuação profissional, dentro da área de arquitetura e urbanismo. Assim, será possível, compreender como foi construída a história da arquitetura moderna em Salvador tendo como foco de observação a atuação das mulheres como parte essencial dessa narrativa. O período contempla de 1936, ano que se forma a primeira arquiteta baiana, até 1969. Entre as 71 arquitetas formadas nesse período (1936-1969) nos aproximamos, através de entrevistas, de doze trajetórias de vida. Entre as conclusões alcançadas temos a certeza da existência de lacunas na história da arquitetura soteropolitana quando se trata da inclusão de trabalhos feitos por arquitetas. A escolha profissional da maioria delas era a atuação governamental, onde eram respeitadas e recebiam salários igualitários, porém, quando se trata da esfera pública, os projetos representam as instituições, levando o nome das mesmas e não de seus responsáveis, o que invisibilizou ainda mais a atuação das arquitetas. Mesmo não sendo seu foco profissional, elas não deixavam de lado os trabalhos particulares, realizaram projetos para si, para a família, amigos e demais clientes. Outro ponto evidenciado é a diferença do olhar sobre o feminismo; a perspectiva feminista à qual temos acesso atualmente, e nos evidencia peças de um histórico cultural, social e econômico machista, se difere muito da visão de mundo existente no século que nos antecede. Isso é visível nos cruzamentos da pesquisa, mas não deve ser enxergado como algo negativo, ou retrogrado, apenas como parte da história, uma verdade.

History is considered by many authors to be unequal when it comes to the inclusion of women's history. For centuries, women have been deprived of public participation and of acting as a protagonist, being historically invisible. This same condition is reflected in all areas of knowledge, including architecture and urbanism. In view of this, this work seeks through the confluence between: a referential deepening, the documentary analysis of archives of the Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade Federal da Bahia and, interviews with architects trained in Salvador; analyze contexts, practices and historiographic discourses, from training to professional performance, within the area of architecture and urbanism. Thus, it will be possible to understand how the history of modern architecture was built in Salvador as a focus of observation on the performance of women as an essential part of this narrative. The period includes 1936, the year in which the first Bahia architect was formed, until 1969. Among the 71 architects trained in that period (1936-1969), we approached, through interviews, twelve life trajectories. Among the conclusions reached, we are sure of the existence of gaps in the history of Salvador's architecture when it comes to the inclusion of works made by architects. The professional choice of most of them was government action, where they were respected and received equal wages, however, when it comes to the public sphere, the projects represent the institutions, bearing the names of the institutions and not those responsible, which made it even more invisible. the performance of architects. Even though they are not their professional focus, they did not neglect private work, they carried out projects for themselves, for family, friends and unknown clients. Another point highlighted is the difference in the look on feminism; the feminist perspective to which we currently have access, and which highlights pieces from a macho cultural, social and economic background, is very different from the worldview that existed in the previous century. This is visible at the intersections of the research, but it should not be seen as something negative, or retrograde, just as part of the story, a truth.
